Blogs
Following research and consultation Wordpress Multi-user (WPMU) will be trialled by a range of Faculties, Units and projects in Session 1 2009. The development of an enterprise level multi-user blogging platform will support the use of blogs for learning and teaching again ensuring UNSW branding and statistical analysis while enabling choice within a range of themes and templates. It is anticipated that UNSW wordpress blogs will offer a public alternative to the private course blogs embedded in Blackboard Learn.
The blog project will include:
• research and evaluation of current blog usage and requirements
• research and trial of Wordpress plugins and widgets to enhance functionality and usability
• the development of a range of themes and design options
• external hosting of pilot installation
• domain name redirections
• a 4 month trial of the platform across a number of selected L&T projects and Faculty to evaluate functionality and to identify support, change management, and hosting needs
• migration to UNSW hosting on IT at UNSW consolidated infrastructure with Faculty branded theme options
