Omnium Software

Omnium is a research group of academics, designers, artists, programmers and writers originating from COFA, who work collaboratively (and from different countries) to explore the potential the Internet allows for what we term – online collaborative creativity (OCC). Omnium Software provides a web-based interface, designed specifically to encourage formation of professional, educational and public online communities and networks. It is considered ideal for use within visual arts & design disciplines and for others that rely on a high level of visual content. It brings members together for discussion and dynamic interaction, independent of their physical locations. (http://omnium.net.au)

Omnium software is open source. Within the UNSW community its use has grown over a 5 year period from COFA Online to COFA blended delivery courses, and isolated pockets of use outside COFA including the Masters of Environmental Management, the Faculty of Built Environment, Confucius Institute, GERRIC and the High School Leadership Program.
As an application on the TELT Platform, Omnium offers an alternative for staff and students seeking a highly visual, gallery-based option.

Initially the inclusion of Omnium on the TELT Platform will be supported via integration with UNSW systems and other TELT applications. The development of a Learning Environment Connector, or Building Block, to enable integration with Blackboard Learn will be investigated.
